LABOUR DEFEATISTS ARE CRITICISED
LONDON, Feb. 10. Some defeatists among the Labour Party's opponents would not raise a hand to save Britain from disaster provided it caused the fall of the present Government, said the Attor-ney-General, Sir Hattley Shawcross, speaking in Manchester. They had done their best to undermine and sabptage the Government's policies at home and abroad. Thc people, however, by faith and harcl work, would triumph over the difficulties. The present tro'uble would set back tbe programme of economic recovery, which had been making good progress. The emergency would pass colnpa'ratively quickly, but the problem of fuel consumption running abead of sUpply would still have tc be f aced. > . The position next winter would be at least as serious unl-ess production were increased.
