RUSSIAN REPUBLIC ELECTS SOVIETS
LONiDON, February 9. The 16 Republics of . the Soviet Union are to-day electing their own Supreme Soviets. These elections are like the provincial elections in other countries. The Supreme Soviet of the whole Union was elected last year for a, four-year term. To-day's -elections are taking place in a holiday atmosphere, and eveiythmg is being done t.o bring people to the polls. Polling booths have heen lit up all night, and have floweis in }hem and red flags. Booths have been set up- in ships at sea, and passengers in the Len.ingrad-Kiev express will he able to vote* at one of the stopping places. Moscow transport is running both late and early, and- in the far northeast, voters went t0 the polls in reindeer sleig'hs, * .
