To-day's Weather Forecast The Government Meteorologist has issued the fcllowing weather report .and forecast: — Situation: Pressures are low to the north of the North Island, and a cold. front is advancing on to the Auckland Province. Forecast for Rotorua: Winds, moderaie to fresh north-westerlies. Weather mainly fair, with only a few scattered showers. Fire Call to Hotel A telephone alarm from Chirms' hotel was answered by Iho- Rotorua i Fire Brigade at 7.26 a.m. on Saturday. The blaze was extinguished by foarn. No damage was done to the kitchen. .Electrical Storm on Mamakus Although Rotorua reeeived hardly any rain during yesterday, apart from showers in the early morning and in the evening, travellers from Hamilton report an electrical storm of unusual shortness and severity on the top of the Mamaku range. Brilliant forked lightning and erashing peals of thunder werd accompanied by al™ost tropical falls of rain, in the vicinity of 4.15 p.m. In places the dips in the road assembled small streams, with water running swiftly across the sealed surface. Mystery Alarm Who blew the alarm which so many cf Rotorua's citizens heard at approximately 10.30 o'clock yesterday morning? • • Many residents reported hearing the alarm, but the firo brigade disclaimed responsibility. It says it was not the fire alarm. The only possible explanation seems to be that it' was the sound of a patrol siren, summoning some traffic oifender to stop.
