ROTORUA CLUB FIXTURE NGONGOTAHA LOSES FINAL GAME 23—13 . The Remuera rink, comprising J. P. Aldred, R. Donald,- R. A. Wilson and G-. J. S. Fisher, were the winners of the Rotorua Bowling Club's aimual open rmks tournament, in the final at thq Government Gardens yesterday afternoon. The runners-up were W. H. Pitts, T. Walker, L. Mareroft and 0. Adams. of Ngongotaha, who were beaten 23 to 13 after a rather ragged display of bowls. Conditions throughout the day were perfect and large galleries watehed the play. The Morning Bounds Maia interest in the morning rounhs was attadied to the "•amo between L. Donaidson (Carlton), and A. F. Badd (Rotorua). Althongh Carlton gained the advantage over Ihe first four head.s, Rotorua then see-aml a three, and from then onwards was never heade.l, ultimately winning 18— lli, with two heads to play when tinte was called. Although several times in diffieulties it was largely the steady ])lay of the Remuera skip, Fisher, which aecounted for the elimination of the Auckland rink, skipped hy W. Adams had three shots on, the fourtn, and when Wilson with an upshot secured the counter. Adams twicc missed with a drive, and Remuera led 0—2. At this stage the play-of hoth teanis was slightly ragged and Alarcroft was lucky to get the shot with tui overdrawn howl. Fisher pushed a front bowl in for shot and Adams failed to draw eloser. Both Walker and Mareroft played perfect draw shots on the next, and the position was unchanged at the end of the head, the score then being 7—4 in favour of Remuera. Pitts, who had led so well for Ngongtoaha in the earlier games, was now pla'jnng uncertainly. Remuera scored five on the seventh head after Adams had failed to dislodge the shot bowl with a good drive which tipped the bowl. A series of uninteresting howls oti

Mareroft was playing a steady ; game and drew shot on the next. ! Adams nearly gave away shot with a i narrow bowl and Fisher was twice uni lucky. Remuera 13, Ngongotaha 10. Remuera Draw Ahead ! Aldred drew a perfect toueher on the 13th to take a shot away from Pitts' howl, and Donald drew another to give Remuera two on the head. Wilson drew a third to make the score 16— .10. The 14i.li *.vas a head full of possibilities. Walker drew the shot and Wilson was unlucky not to shift it i with an up^shjt. Adams drew an- ' olher perfect *not in front of the kitty, and Fisher shifted them for two. Adams was also unlucky with an up-shot, and Remuera retained the ; two, and were now eight ahead. j With a two on the iloth end, Rcmu- • ora forged farther ahead. Walker 's touclier on the kitty had a charmed ' life when Donald, W7ilson and Fisher j ran each side of it without succc-ss, and Ngongotaha scored one. Ngongotaha had a ehance of a three on the 10th as a result of a successful up-shot/ by Adams, but Fisher, drawing well, drew the shot to make the score 19 — 11. The leeway was now too great for Ngongotaha, and the game ended after the following two heads in favour of Remuera. Results: — Quarter-Finals: A. F. Budd 18, D. Donaldson 11; G. J. S. Fisher 18, W.
