SHUTTLE SERVICE FOR PALESTINE EVACUEES
LONDON, February 0. Teti Royal Air Force Halifaxes have hndeil at Cairn with 170 British women and children from Palestine, says Reuter's t'airo correspondent. They were taken in huses to British homes in the snburb of Maadi, where New Zealand tnmps were quartered during the war. The planes, each carrying 17 evacuees, started a shuttle service at X oYlock this irorning. It is expeeted that they will transport 500 hy nightfall. They will hmvel hy boat-train to London toaprruw. The mothers, who were permitted b bring only two bottles of milk for their children, experienced great difficalty in obtaining food. They had no h'ench nioney and they searched Paris for fresh milk and fruit juice their children, all of whom are Under two years of age. The British Embassy finally proCUl'ed a small supply of tinnecl milk. * Norwegian air hostess, Freda Mag"us, guaranteed the meal bills for the A'onien. She said: "I think someone the British Emhassy should be °n hand to attend the women's needs."
