NO INCREASES FOR RAILWAY WORKERS
WELLINGTON, lasl night. •N'o general wage increases have been granted by the Railways Industrial Tribunal which to-day re- . leased its findings. The Tribunal had bef'ore it an application for a wage increase from 1d. per hour i'or tradesmen and an application for increases fgr engine drivers, firemen and cleaners ranging from ti.?d. to 9^d. per hour, biit these claims were disallowed. The only wage increases given are of a minor nature to remove anomalies considered to exist in c-ertain special groups. s Of six claims presented to the Tribunal two were withdrawn. Of the others, several were joint claims affeeting all the service organrsations, ; A.S.R.S., R.C'.A., R.O.I., and E.F.C.A,, but most were individual claims afFec- , ting only one organisation, and of I this latter class, the greatest numbers were claims of the A.S.R.S.
