SIXTEEN EXPECTED TO QUALIFY
RTNKS - B O W LING '
p0st-secti0n matches will commence to*day ■. - t At the close of the ninth round of the Rotorua Bowling Club's open rinks toumament yesterday afternoon, four teams, Loram (Auckland), Turner (Carlton), Pott^r (Tauranga), and Gardiner (.Otahuhu), had secured the necessary seven wins to assure them of qualifying for post-section play, while to-day's two rounds will decide the chances of many others who are well placed in their respective sections. $ The position last evening appeared to make it almost certain that at least 16 teams will ultimately qualify while there are also several others with five wins who have chances. In several cases these teams will be meeting others similarly placed, and this morning some particularly keen contests can be expected. Although Potter's Tauranga team has qlready qualified it had the mis- - fortune early yesterday afternoon of losing the services of its skip, who was involved in- an unfortunate " accident which' will, it is understood, keep him out of the game for some time. Section play will not be eompleted to-clay until the middle of the afternoon, following which the qualifiers will meet in the first round- of postsection matehes. .Should 16 teams only qualify, the final will be reached on" Friday afternoon, but a greater number than this would - carry the play into Saturday.
