ROTORUA ANNUAL RINKS BOWLING TOURNEY
Many of the visiting bowlers who are engaged in the Rotorua Bowling Club's annual open rinks tournament commencing* to-day, were seen trying out the greens during the week-end. With the continued warm weather, the .greens have already reached a lceenness which will become more pronounced as play continues, probably promising "fiery" conditions later in the week. In all there will be 55 rinks engaged, and the official opening will take place at 8.45 o'cloclc this morning. Each day there will be three rounds of section matches until Thursday, when the remaining two rounds will be decided and the qualifiers announced. To qualify, teams must secure seven of 10 matches played, unless any particular section is won with less than seven wins, Vhen that winner and any team which ties with it at the top of the section also qualify. The post-section matches, which will eommence on Thursday afternoon, will be played on the one-life system, and the final will probaoly be reached on Friday. Lunch will be taken each day between 12.45 and 1.45 p.m.
