PETTY THIEVING IN THE BOROUGH
COUNCIiL MOVES TO HAVE WATCHMAN APPOINTED. The 30,90* Cluh drew the attention of the Borough Council on Thursday iiight to the amount of petty thieving that had taken place from vehicles during the holidays. It was felt that a large amount of good will of visitors and residents was lost througii this matter and the club would *he grateful Lo the council xor taking whatever i aetion it deemed necessary to prevent the practice. Cr. D. ,E. Sheaf said a night watchman should be appointed hy business people, and he thought the council, insurance companies, Chamher of Commerce and 30,000 Cluh should combine to make a grant towards his wages. The cost, he believed, would he recouped hy the prevention of losses. He moved that action he taken. Crs. D. Jervis, L. Ewert and D. Simmons supported the motion, which was agreed to.
