SHARK DANGER IN SYDNEY ACUTE
SYDN.EY. Thousands Avho sought relief at the beaches on a recent week-end from Sydney's humid weather were driven from the surf by sharks. Five inan-eating sharks, one about 15- feet long, cruised clo'se inshore at Maroubra Beach until • they were driven out to sea . by lifesaver-s in a surf-boat. Bathers were 'kept out of the water for more than a hour. Three fishermen at Bondi netted a 12ft tiger shark after playing it for more than an hour. Other sharks were sen off Ben Buckler and Clovelly. At Freshwater one of the biggest sharks ever seen there got within 50 yards of bathers when a boatman gave the alarm and drove the shark out to sea. Another was sighted at Bronte by a man on a surf ski. Mr. Adrian Curlewis, Surf Lifesaving Association president, has i warned that dangerous sharks were beginning to come closer to beaches. The idanger would last for the next three months.
