AMERICA SYMPATHETIC TOWARDS ITALY

ROME, Jan. 19. The Italian Prime Minister, Signor de Gasperi, is to tell reporters tomorrow the results of his recent economie mission to Washington. He has already expressed satisfaction, saying that President Truman showed the greatest sympathy towards Italy and promised that the United States would do everything possible to help. The Italian Communist Party has issued a statement calling for the consolidation of all democratic f'orces so as to avoid a Ministerial crises. The statement follows the split in the Italian Socialist Party cn the issue of collaboration with the Communists. It was this step which led to the resignation of Signor Nomi as Prime Minister.
