(Press Assfi.-

«H0WE PROVES CLASS OVER MILE

-By Telegraph — Copyright.)

WELLINGTON, Last Night. With his Dominicm Handicap honours fresh upon him, Bruce 'staged a splendid staying performance to win the Wellington Cnp yesterday in the last few strides from Broiefield, with Golden Souyenir and Langue d'Or fighting out a photo finish for third. There was another close finish in the Telegraph Handicap, won by Da Vinci. The track was fast and there was a very large attendance. The Cup contest had an interesting result in that Golden Souvenir and Bruce, who contested favouritism, are trained by L. J. Ellis at Riccarton, and Broiefield and Langue d'Or by C. J. Thomson at Awapuni. W. J. Broughton was in his best form, riding four winner's. Results : —
