WELLINGTON, Last Night. High prices were realised on the opening day, to-day, of the twenty-first national sale of thoroughbred yearlings. Bidding was particularly keen and the amount realised for the 90 lots sold was 63,985 -^uineas, an average of 710 guineas. Overseas buyers took 38 lots, including 35 bought on behalf of Australian sportsmen, whose outlay was 33,095 guineas, or more than one-half the aggregate. Mr. W R. Kemball, of Melboume, a pa.ron of the saies since their inception, secured- seven lots for 9800 ! g-uineas, and paid the top price of 3000 gns on the -day for the black colt by Foxbridge from the Bulshandar mare, Konnetta. Mr. L. 'B. Israel, jyf Scone,' iNiew South "W;ales, secured four lots for 4450gns., and the Sydney trainer, C. McLoughlin, six lots for 4075[gns.

Of the 90- yearlings sold, no fewer than 25 fetched lOOOgns. or more. The four Foxbridge colts sold for 815'0gns., these being offered on behalf of the Trelawney Stud, Cambridge. This stud sol-d 12 lots for an average price^of 1399gns. The Windsor Park Stud, Oamaru, disposed of four lots for an average of 1325gns.
