McKELL WILL NOT LEAD LABOUR PARTY
SYDNEY, Jan. 14. Plans that Premier McKell should lead the New South Wales Labour Party in the State elections before resigning to become Governor-General, have now been abandoned according to the Sydney Sun's Canberra correspondent, who says that Mr. McKell will be appointed Governor-General • well before the elections. This wc-uld necessitate the appointment of a new leader of the State Parliamentary Labour Party. Discussions between the British and Anstralian authorities on the appointment of a Governor-General were deseribed by another souree as in the doldrums but nothing has | emerged to lessen Mr. McKell's pro-s-i pects.
