GRASSHOPPER PLAGUE IN QUEENSLAND
BKISBAiNE, January 15. Besides eating hafe of grass ihe! country for 50 miles around Gooqhiwindi, the grasshopper plague has in- ' vaded the town, and caused considerable damage. The grasshoppers have eaten starched clothing hanging on the clothes lines, chewed cardboardfrom the back of pictUre frames, and bared lawns. . • It is the worst grasshoppqr plague in the history of the district. No grass remains 011 properties which were - showing green s'hoots three weeks ago, and grgziers will now have to cut scrub or hand-feed their stock".
