WHEAT CARGOES SENT TO ITALIANS
LONDON', January 15. A French merchantman, carrying 50,000 tons of wheat from the United States to the American zone of Germany, has been diverted to Italy. This is to meet an emergency request' for supplies to relieve the present acute distress. It is stated in Rome that wheat stocks in some parts of southern Italy are sufficient for only a few days.
