To-Day's Weather Forecast The Govemment Meteorologist .'has issued the following weather report and forecast: — ' ■ The general situation: shows that , the cy clone east of the North Island is moving* away. An anticyclone covers most of New Zealand. / Forecast is for moderate to fresh south-easterly winds, some scattered rain still likely at first, bu& ! with it weather becoming fair and | somewhat milder by afternoon. | : The maximum temperature reeord- ; ed in the town area yesterday was 57.7 degrees. In the 24-hour period ending at 8.30 p.m. yesterday, .46 of an inch of rain was recorded. Poor Season for Honey Owing to the most unseasonable weather, this year's honey yield is expected to be very disappointing. One of the principal factors in the drop in yield compared with.last year has been that clover has not been mueh in flower owing to the low temperatures, and bees have found it most difficult to collect nectar. A great deal will depend upon the Aveather in the next few weeks whether any reasonable yield will be possible this year. Building in Rotorua . For the nine months of the financial year ending December, permits for the erection of 73 dwellings Avere granted within the Borough of Rotorua, the total value of all building Avork being £151,000. For the full financial period 1945-46, the number of houses erected Avas 87 and all activities, including alterations, were valued at £122,689. Both these figures are exclusive of State housing. At the present rate there should be 100 new houses for the 12 monthly period, /in being or projected, by March 31.
Auckland Gas Shortage Auckland housewives will again face restriction of- the gas supply from to-day. No gas will be available from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily and r?strictions are likely on Saturday and Sunday afternonns. The reasoiis are resumption o" business and manufacturing aetivities af.er the holidays, and diffieulties looming in the coal supply situation. The main difficulty is stated to be shipping. There are several thousand tons of gas coal awaiting shipment in Greymouth, but it is reported tha no crews are available to man the coal boats now at Wellington.
