NEW KETTLEDRUM FOR WHAKA SCHOOL

When the Whaka School children assemble for the 1947 muster, they will march to the tune of a brass kettledrum. This drum used to laad a famous Highland band and it was presented to the school in mem'ory of che late Sergt. George Robert Watts, who was on the staff of the Rotorua Hospital for 20 years and known to che children as "Uncle Watto." The Whaka School gives a concert eacl year and the want of a kettleIrum was noticed by the Whaka Church committee.
