Four Sentenced For Anti-Franco Plots

Q MADRID, Jan. 13. A Spanish Military Court sentenced four Republicans on charges of plotting against the Franco Government. Their trial began on Thursday after they had been held for two years in prison. The Court sentenced a priest, Regulo Martinez Sanchez, to six years' j imprisonment. He told the Court he had been tortured during his earlier imprisonment. Sentences of four years were imposed on Colonel Adolfo Prada, who ordered the surrender of Republican troops in Madrid in 1939, and on the Socialist, Juan Gome Edigo, and the anarchist Sigfrido Catala. The Court received a letter from the Monarchist General Aranda protesting against attempts to link him in his absence with the anti-Franco I plot. Just before he trial began, J General Aranda was exiled to Majorca.
