' NO EXPLOITATiON \ government proposes central planning

NEW DELHI, Jan. 14. The vice-president of the Indian Interim Government, Pandit Nehru, has urged careful plannlng for the mineral assets of India. He"" said the Government of India would no longer "tolerate wasteful exploitation by an individual or firm. He said it was not the intention of the Government to deprive States and pro.vinces of their rights to the mineral resources within their territories, but central planning would ensure overall control of the country's mineral resources. The Minister of Commerce said it was up to the individual provinees to decide whether mineral control was to be vested' in a central authority. He added i'h'at the question had assumed great significance, especially' in view of the imminent constitutional changes. Police Search Comimunists At IJombay, detectives to-day searched the central headquarters of the Communist Party and the printing press where a Communist paper is printed. The paper's editor and assistant editor were arrested. The offices of the All-India Students' Federation and the homes of several members of the Communist Party were also searched. At Delhi also, the police searched the Communist Party offices and the homes of prominent leaders. Files and documents were seized.
