GARDEN INTO GREEN
ALICE A.
GRAY.
(To the Editor.) Sir, — It has been brought to my lotice that the lily pond in the Government Gardens inside the en:rance at Prince's Gate is to he filled :n to make room for another howling ;reen. Also several beautiful trees vill require to be demolished. I wonler whether the tree-loving people *re aware what is going on. This oarticular area is a beautiful quiet ^pot where hundreds of women and children rest and picnic. If any preventive actio-n is to be :aken it must he done immediately, is a start has already been made to all in this pond. These gardens be'orig to the people of Rotorua and L,hey should be consulted before such rlterations are made. I wish to enter my emphatic protest and I feel sure :hat many more hundreds of people who love these gardens will support me. — I am, ete.,
