BURMA TALKS BEGIN IN LONDON

LONDON, Jan. 13. The talks on the future constitu-t-ion of Burma are due to open in London to-day. Mr. Attlee and Lord Peth'ick Lawrence, Secretary oi' State for India and Burma, will welcome the Burmese delegation. It is expected that to-day's proceedings will be brief and formal and that the two sides will get down to* discussion of the prohlem to-morrow. There is no indication of how long the talks will last. In his statement to the Commons last month, the Prime Minister explained that the Government did not regard the 1935 White Paper plan for Burma as unchangeable, and that it desired the Burmese people to attain self-go'vern-nient by the quiclcest way possible. There were two deaths from stabbing in Bombay to-day, and four people were injured- by acid throwing.
