The "Battle Of The Franc" Continues In France

LONDON, January 9. The hattle of the franc continues on several fronts in France. The B.B.'C. correspondent says that the main action is still against prices with the Government steadily gaining ground. The measure of their success so far can he seen in the black market rate for the pound and dollar. A few days ago an Efcglish pound note could be exchanged for 900 francs, compared with the official rate of 480 and today the black marketeers will not go to more than 700. A more important move is the decision to start putting into force a new plan which • aims at giving new life to French industry over the next four years.
