The Chief of the Imperial General •Staff, Field-Marshal Viscount Montgomery, when he arrived in Moscow asked that his short s'peech at the aerodrome be published in the Moscow newspapers, says the British United Press correspondent. All papers to-day print the story on the front page and a picture of his .welcome. The Associated Press' Moscow correspondent says it is learned on jgcod authority that Field-Marshal Mo-ntgomery came with the outspoken assertion that any military agreements between Britain and the United States were not exclusive and Russda would1 be welcomed to join. Field-Marshal Montgomery will make, or has made, this clear to the Russians. 'It is known that he is a straight, frank talker who will not ■hesitate to tell the Russians just what is on his mind. Field-Marshal Montgomery addressed the Higher Military Academy of the Riussian General Staff, giving his conception of wai-, sol'diers and attack. Field-Marshal Montgomery, in fulldress uniform, last night attended a ballet performance of Romeo and Juliet at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. With him was the Chief -of the Sovtfet General Staff, and Marshal Kniev. The theatre was filled with high-ranking officers and members of the Diplomatic Corps.
