THREE-POWER APPEAL TO POLAND
Demand For Free Elections . # WASHINGTON, Jan. 8. The United States is to appeal to Britain ancl- Russia to join in representations to Poland about the elections taking place there on January 19. An American Note points out there is little hope that the elecio-ns will be * held under he terms of the Potsdam agreemcnt unless an end is put to the terrorist campaign at present taking place. The Note said the three • Powers had responsibilities under the Potsdam and Yalta agreements to "call to ^ the attention of the Polish Government in a most friendly but most insistent manner the failure of the Pclish Government to perform its obligations. "For any of the parties to the Potsdam agreement to refrain from most energetic efforts to see to its proper exccution," the Note added, "would be to fail in a most so-lemn obligation."
