♦ , Two-Day Match Commences At High School To-Day ( i The Auckland Colts' touring team, which arrived in Rotorua yesterday afternoon from Gisborne, comprises. R. Johnson (captain and manager), | J. Worrall, J. Green, R. Johns, E. Meuli, J. Marsden, E. Petrie, B. Williadns, P. Iles, J. Hollywood, J. Hayes and D. Coleman. The team will meet a representative Bay of Plenty team in a twoday match at the High School ground to-day and to-morrow, play beginning each day at 10.15 a.m. and ending at 5.45 p.m. The Colts have played three matches so far on the tour. In the game against Mdnawatu Colts, at Palmerston North, the visitors knocked up 291 in their first strike, and had 82 on for the loss of two wickets when play ended on account of rain. This match was notewortby f^r the ninth wicket partnership between Petrie, 78, and Iles, 99. In the match against a Hawke's Bay team, the Colts compiled 267 in the first innings, Bay answering with 137 and 180 for six. Hollywood too,k
five wickets for 47, and Hayes, a fast bowler who played for Auckland against Wellington, four for 25 in this match. Against Poverty Bay, at the weekend, the Colts knocked up 223 in an even scoring game (Marsden 44, Douglas 33, Meuli 31, and Petrie 22 not out). Bay's total of 260 was characterised by a good knock of 76 by C. Fraser. Hayes took four wickets for 80 and Williams, two for 15. The team has shown itself to be an all-round eleven, the average age of the players being 19 or 20. The Bay of Plenty side, which was in action at Tauranga, comprises the best eleven available, in the absence of L. Spring and A. Badeley, and some first-class cricket should be witnessed by enthusiasts.
