WOMAN ACCIDENTALLY SHOT THROUGH HEAD
INVERCARGILL, last night. While inspecting her husband's rifle on Sunday night, Mrs. Edna May Allott, " aged 37, of 29 Lansdowne Street, Invercargill, was shot through the h'eacl and died on th'e way to the hospital. Her husband, Lawrence Heathcote Allott, had been out shooting with frierds on Satfurday. Unaware that the rifle was loaded, he placed it muzzle upwards against the chesterfield on which his wife was lying-, while he went for cleaning equipment. He heard a report, and on returnihg, found his w'ife with a bullet^wound in her head. It is believed that Mrs. Allott took the flifle by the muzzle and dragged it towards her, and that the trigger caiug'ht on the end of the chesterfield and the rifle discharged.
