The Bank of England yesterday hegan the issue. of new cupro-nickel coins, which will replace the present silver ones'/ Only limited quantities will he issued, and for a long time both types of coins will cirCulate. There is about £120, 000,000 worth of silver coins, and it may take 20 years to withdraw them. The new coins are a little darker in colour and sli^htly thicker, hut in design and weight are identical with the silver ones.
