ALARMING INCREASE IN FEMALE CRIME

■WASHINGTON, Dec. 30. Drastic increase have occurred in crirnes by women, including robberiec, motcr car thefts, forgery and counterfeiting, sex oflFences, other than prosl 'tution, unlawful possession of weajons, and offences against families and children, said the F.B.I. Director, Mr. J. Edgar Hoover. An alarming increase in juvenile crime during the war had shown a tendency to level off during the first nine months c-f 1946. Further increases in female arrests however, might portend a future rise in juvenile crime rates, because mothers and sisters participating in lawlessness could auite conceivably have an adverse effect on children.
