British Want More Credit For Work Done LONDON, Dec. 30. A special correspondent of the News Chronicle, after a tour of the British Occupation forces in Japan, says the complaints of troops ea n )>e listed under five heads. Firstly there is the exchange rate under which the £ sterling is valued at 60 ycn despite soaring inilation, whereas American troops have stabilised the occupation dollar. Secondly there is the fact that the Americans have secured the best leave- centres for their use. Thirdly there is the poor mail and other communication services. Fourthly there is a need for better accommodation. Fifthly the British want'a better share c-f credit for the work they are doing. Amplifying the. last category the correspondent says that many Japanese believe that British troops are only policemen for the Americans who are supplying the brains and protecting the Japanese from the cruel British, Australians, New Zealanders and Indians. The correspondent adds that as the result'Jof complaints the standard c-f both food and quarters has recently been'improved.
