HOLIDAY INTERIM PERIOD QUIET
The interim period of .the Christmas holiday, the days between De-. cember 26 and Deeemher 31, has been comparatively quiet in Rotorua. The organised entertainments have been well patronised by both visitors and resid-ents, but the spontaneous gaiety so apparent ori the three days" around Christmas died a very sudden death during -the week-end, Sunday and Monday were both quiet although yesterday ho'usewives spent a busy time replenishing the larders. On Sunday afternoon, most milk bars in the towix reported good trade, but this was only natural, sirifce those estahlishments w-ere the only places in the town open. During the daytime on Sunday, even the Ward Baths were. closed. These were open on Monday, but the consistent ^ain which f-ell -throughout the day did not nxake bathing in the big pool pleasant.
