Dr. W. R. B. Oliver, director of the Dominion Museum since 1930, will retire" at the end of the year. Dr. Oliver i was bom in Tasmania, but educated - in New Zealaad. . He has been a member of the museum staif for neai-ly 20.years and has specialised in ornithology, in which he has gained a world-wide reputation. He accom- i panied scientific expeditions to theKermadecs and the islands -south of New Zealand, ansd has travelled widely in the Paeific, Aastralia, America and Europe.
