British Road Casualties: The number of people killed. en the roads in Britain last month was '571. This was the highest nronthly total this year, and was 50 more than the figures for November last. year. The number ef people injured was about 13,500 or nearly 2500 more than a year ago., One reason for the rise in the figures is that many more pedestrians were killed. The number of children killed on the road was considera'bly less. Prijacess as Chief Ranger: Prineess Elizabeth has heen appointed Chief Ranger of the British Empire. She has been an enthusiastic sea ranger since 1942 and holds the rank of petty-olfieer in the sea ranger ship Duke of York. She regularly attends the weekly meetings. Pi*eviously she was patrol leader in the first Buckingham Palaee guide company. The Prineess as Chief Ranger will have a personal link with all Empire rangers, many of whom will welcome her during her South Afriean visit,
