ST. DUNSTAN'S APPEAL FOR £306,000 A YEAR

Number Blinded In Second World War 686 LONDON, Dec. 21. The council of St. Dunstan's has deeided to launeh an appeal to raise £306,000 in each year of the next decade in order to provide the finance eonsidered necessary for the needs of blinded ex-servieemen of both world wars. A report hy an actuary diselosed that tlie present resources of St. Dunstan's were inadequate to undertake the work that would he necessary. If the appeal is suecessful, St. Dunstan's will have sufficient funds available to cc-ntinue its work for the next 50 to 60 years and to meet all forseeahle contingencies. There are 1673 blinded survivors of the First World War living to-day, and as a result of the Second World War, 666 young men and 20 young women have been added to their numhers. During the next 30 years, it is calculatecl, there will he 473 cases attributable to or aggravated by war service.
