AGA KHAN STILL "LEADS THE FIELD"

For the ninth time, the Aga Khan heads the list of winning ov/ners in England, and though he failed to win a classic race, his horses won £24,454. His trainer, Frank Butters, was easily the leading trainer, winning 60 races and £56,170. In 19 seasons, horses trained . in England by Butters have won more than £750,000. The success of the French horses invasion of the English turf this year can be gauged by Mr. M. Boussac being- second among the winnng owners, with £21,377. He bred all his winners himself, and was third on the list of winning breeders. The leading breeder is LieutenantColonel H. Boyd-Rochfort, who bred the Derby and St. Leger winner Airborne. He breeds for sale only, and Airborne's winnings represented the greater part of 'his stud's six winners of £23,059. Lord Derby, who was the leading owner and breeder last year, was second with £22,353. Hyperion is sasily the leading sire, 32 of hi's progeny winning 58 races (including dead heats) and £52,960. That figure is more than £14,0*00 greater than his total last year. Hyperion was the leading sire in 1940-11-42 and 1945, and in 1939' -and 1944 he was second to Lord Derby's other great sire, Fairway, which, in spite of his age, was third this year with the .winners of £28,636. The success of Airbome placed Preeipitation in second place, his total being £29,926. Gordon Richards remains the undisputed champion among the jockeys and heads the list for the 19th time. He had 725 mounts during the season, considerably more than any L other rider, and finished in the money in nearly two-thirds of them. His actual record during the season was 212 firsts, 139 seconds, 123 thirds and 251 times nmplaced. X
