Artillery Unit Histories
Though most of the battalions lost no time in getting their unit histories under way, the final decision of how the artillery histories should be handledi was delayed to allow gunners from as many centres as possible to express their opinions at a conference called for the purpose, states an Auckland reporfc. It was decided to produce six volumes, the first to be a general summary of activities of New Zealand Artillery as a whole (including uriit history of Headquarters- N.Z.A.) and making mention of the British regiments and units that were attached for the various compaigns. The 4th, 5Hh, '6th Field Regtments and 7th Anti-Tank -Regiment are to have a volume each and the final volume is to be in two parts, one for the 14, th Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment and the second part for the history of the 36th Survey Battery. During the' disbandment of Divisipnal Artillery in Italy, the residue of regimental funds from all refeiments was centralised' in a N.Z.A. Unit History Fund, and' it was reported that nearly. £2000 was available in this fund.'In vieW of the fact that war histories branch would be giving all the financial assistance necessary .in the production of unit histories, it was decided to authorise the production of a popular pictorial record; of N.Z.AVs activities with the money available from the N.Z.A. Funds.
