BERNBOROUGH'S RIDER GOES BACK TO LAND
Has Made Enough To Live Comfortably SYDNEY, Dec. 18. "I have made enough money out of riding to live comfortably for the rest o-f my life," said- a jockey, Athol George Mulley, "bged 23, in announcing his retirement from race riding. Mulley, who becapje famous as the rider -of Bernborough, plans to retire next July1 and to -raise cattle and sheep on a property he has bought at Dulibo. His marriage on November '16 was published on the front pages of the Sydney papers because ■of its lavish nature. Mulley said he had always intended to go back to the land and had made up his mind to retire before being offered Bernborough. Since his marriage, Mulley has ridden 19 successive losers, his last success being on Cold Shower at Randwick on his wedding day.
