—Rec. 9.S0 p.m.)

SiDJNEx, Dec. 14. Adding 36 rurfs to its score on Friday, England was all out for 255 in the first innings of the £ cond Test against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground today. Barnes and Morris opened for Australia on a firm wieket, :but just hefore 1 p.m. play was stopped when Australian batsmen appealed successfully against the light. The threatened tbunderstorm then broke and drenehed the crowd which grew noticeably smaller. Covers were placed over the wicket. Play was resumed at 4..15 (Australian time) in brilliant sunshine. Before the stoppage, Bedser and Edrich opened the bowling for Engvland, Barnes hitting three twos off Bedser's first over. At the interruption of play, Australia had made seven without loss. When England's innings was re- >■ umed at noon, Ikin. appeared to be uneasy. He survived a number of ehances, and finally hit one to Has^ett at mid#off, off McCool. Ikin's 60 tock 174 minutes, and included three 1 oundaries. Bedser and Wright ndded 22 in a last-wicket partnership, but Johnson included the former among his six victims, cleanbowling him.
