GAS WORKERS ON STRIKE IN THREE STATES
SYDNEY December 13. Though attempts will be made today to settle the gas strike, which involves 4000 employees in three States drastic g;as rationing is expected to •begin in Sydney at midnig'ht. The State Cabinet is considering recommendations that the use of .gas shoiild- be prohibited' "except for 2h hours each week-day and two hours on Saturday. Gas -workers in Sydney continued their sit-in strike throughout last night. After addresses. by union leaders they decided that they would motrre-* tiirn to work. or aba-ndon. the sit-in •strike until their demands were conceded. About 250- men -bought food at local stores or had it brought to work iby their wives and children. . Forty boilermakers at three Sydney works will ceas-e work to-day. in sympathy with the 'strikers, and are.ex-. pected to be joined' by other -mairitenance workers.
