RECENT BAGS TAKEN CONDITIONS DURING PAST FORTNIGHT NOT SO FAVOURABLE CONSERVATOR'S REPORT "The reports to hand show that for the fortnightly period ended January 31 the fishing was not altogether good, but for the month of January this is no exception. Weather conditions were very changeable and the 'persistent' anglers only were rewarded with a fair share of sport," states the Conservator of Fish and Game (Mr. A. Kean) in his fortnightly report upon angling conditions in the Rotorua acclimatisation area. Rotorua Lakes Area "A good run of fish was reported on the last days of January in the Ohau Channel where five rods, including Dr. Prins and sons, took 40 fish in 24 hours. Evening fishing has been quite fair. Mr. and Mrs. Skene from Ceylon fished the higher reaches of the Whakatane River above Ruatoki where they were rewarded with good sport in the early morning and late evening.
