THE MOTOR CAMP

J.

G.

(To the Editor) ,Sirj__iAs a visitor to your ci-ty one cannot help comparing the different mo.tor camp grounds and their appointments as one tours thr.ouig(h the different towns. I must admit that the camp site j at Rotorua is very suitably situated, but in comparison with other camps of much less importance th'e cotivenience for the campers is almost entirely lacking. I need not mention any one particular camp in comparison because it is legion among the campers that Rotorua camp conveniences cannot eompare in any particular twith any other camp on the road. There is no shelter for campers to either cook or wash', or any convenience for washing clothes or ironing. During the present Christmas holidays we have had severai wet days and to expect campers to stand out in the rain to wash and shave at a sort of water trough is just a ■little too thick and is on a par with ■the conveniences provided for ladies and gents which reaily belong to the pre-historic days. I do not like making comparisons but after camping in ■such (gfrounds as Napier, Hastings or any other Hawlces Bay motor camp, ' Aramoho, Hawera, New Plymouth etc, where the authorities are fully alive to the value of catering in every way for the motorist, I am sure, sir, it is time the City Fathers of your fair town made a much better eifort in improving and providing the conveniences I have already mentioned- In fact it perhaps would be better to ask your engineer to visit otber sites and so get into line with up-to-date methods, or I am afraid you will motice that tbe campers will be noticeaible in declining numbers and stopping fewor days. These few notes I have penned I hope will be taken by your authorities in the right spirit for it is just as important for Rotorua as the motorist, — I am, etc.,
