man severiely burned during fire on launch INCIDENTS IN SOUNDS

Blenheim, Wednesday Two visitors, Mr. Bruce Forsyth, of Wellington, tformerly of Christchurch land Mr. Desmond Johnson, of Oxford, Canterbury, had an unenviable expexu-* ence in Palorus Sound o'n Saturday night, .the news of which has just been received at Blenheim. ITihe pair chartered the 30-foot launch Rata at Havelock, and set out for Kenepuru," giving a lift )to two nrsn. About 10 o'clock, near St. Omei", the k.unch caught fire. Mr. Forsyth,' 1 who was in the engine-room, had to jump overboard to extinguish his burning clothes, and as the launch was then running ahead there was difficulty in picking him upFinally this was achieved, and ithe launch was then heached and tihe fire extinguished after a long fight. The party had to spefcd the night on the beach' in heavy rain. Messrs Forsyth and Johnson are .now in Picton Hospital, undergoing treatment for burns. The launch engine was badly damaged, and the engine-room was burned out.
