FIRST DAY'S PLAY ' (The annual open tournament- of the Rotorua Tennis Club was commenced yesterday morning on the Government Grounds' Courts and with the exception of postponements during the- matches played by the visiting Australian lady players, continued throughout the day. Although the Wind was not particularly strong at the commencement of play it increased to gale forc-e as the day progressed' and in addition to making pliaying conditions unpleasant, someWhat marred the day's games. Yesterday's play was mainly confined to matches in the men's championship and handicap series, but pla.y in both men's and ladies' secijons will be continued to-day.
