MEETING OF SOUTH AUCKLAND CENTRE TAKES PLACE AT HAMILTON CARNIVAL EASTER MONDAY • The annual meeting of the South Auckland Swimming Centre was held s in Hamilton on Wednesday evening, Messrs. L. Gresham and L. Fisher re- ; presenting Rotorua. The advisability of forming a Bay of Plenty centre was discussed and the project met with favour. Clubs, within the proposed area are expected to communicate with the South Auckland Centre. It was decided to allocate the South Auckland championships to Rotorua and they will be contested at one of the future carnivals. Permission was given the club to hold a carnival on Easter Monday. An application was made by Rotorua for financial assistance to send W. Whareaitu to the New Zealand championships at Christchurch next February, but owing to the shortage of funds the centre could not see its way clear to assist the club. Rotorua representatives consider ^ that it is surprising that no suggestion was brought forward regarding help to raise this money, although the centre takes credit for Whareaitu as a South Auckland representative. They point out that the decision means that the whole financial burden of sending Whareaitu to the New Zealand championships will be placed upon Rotorua involving an amount of between £40 and £50.
