(Rec. 11 p.m.) Melbourne, Dec. 21. The final conditions have been announced in regard to the Centenary Air Race which will be of an international cliaracter and not limited to competitors with Empire machines. The first machine to cross a white line drawn across Flemington Racecourse collects a cheque for £10,000. The formula for the handicap race is designed to encourage commeycial aviation and success will depend on five main fkctofs?> namely Xl)w th'e ability'.of the pilot to get through, '(b) the speed of the" machine', (c) luclc, (d) weather and other conditions and (e) load. October 20, 1934, is the date of starting, A deposit of £50 for the speed race and of £10 for the handicap is required and will be forfeited if any machine fails to reach Baghdad. Any machine failing to complete the course in sixteen calender days will he disqualified. There will be checking points along the route.
