country house destroyed by nocturnal outbreak
London, Nov. 11. Fire destroyed Barley Thorpe Hall, near here, the former seat of Lord Lonsdale, occupied by Mr. Lawrence Kimball, Conservative M.P. for Lough borough. Mr. Kimball and his family had 'only a f ew hours before arrived back jjrom their shooting box in Scotland. The fire began in the nursery, and soon lit up the countryside for miles round. Three fire brigades fought the flames, using water from a lake 600 yards away. Villagets rushed to help in the work of salvaging the contents of the hall and Mr. Kimball entered smokefilled ropms to remove qrticles of special value. Lord Lonsdale still keeps his l)unters at the hall, but they 'were at no time in danger. Mr. Kimball was due to speak in his constituency, but remained to help the fire brigades.
