BAlong the 300 mile front in the ■jb-equatorial wilderness of the Gran ■haco over which Bolivia and ParaBLy have been dispute f°r more Kan 50 years, firing ceased at midBeht on Tuesday as the result of Bf armistice which will be effective Etil the end of the year. ■ In the last 17 months 150,000 men lve been engaged in the hostilities. fcirty thousand have died, 20,000 Eve been taken prisoner, and there Ee unnumbered thousands of casual■cs from bullets, dysentry, scurvy ld tvphoid fever. The truce is be- | al-ranged by the League of Na■ons commission which aims to efIct peace with the backing of the Eesident, Senor Gabriel Terra of ■ruguay, and the pan-American reBjblics whose delegates are now in Bssion here. ■ Expressions of the deep,est joy are fcpressed on all sides. Bolivia and Baraguay, through their representa■ves agreed with the pan-American ■atio'ns "that the major objective of te peace must be the permanent teriination of the dispute.
