ALBION'S POOR SHOWING On the High School ground Albion batted first and gave a sorry display. After opening quietly, Burton was bowled by Alexander after scoring six and Gresham and Wallis added 33 for the second wicket .before the former's wicket was broken by Simpson. Plis total of 23 runs was the highest smre of the innings. The third wicket fell without addition to the total, but Targett (who opened with a six) and Wallis added a dozen before the former was caught and bowled by Simpson. Only four runs were added before the remaining wickets were disposed of leg before for the small total of 61. Simpson took five wickets for 16 runs for High School. For the remainder of the afternoon High School kept the Albion field moving and closed its first innings for 141 runs. Both starting, confidently Higgins and Dawson scored 18 runs for the first wicket, the latter going leg before to Burton. Higgins (16) was the next to go off a weak stroke but Ewert and Alexander put up a good partnership for 51 runs for the third wicket. After Simpson had been
disposed of by Targett three wickets fell without addition to the total to give J. J. Lewis the hat-triclc, but Andrews and Dowling staged a fine lsst wicket stand to carry thp total to 141. Lewis took four wickets for 15 and Burton three for 21. Details: — • ALBION First Innings Burton, b Alexander 6 Gresham, b Simpson .... ; 23 Wallis, lbw, b Simpson f8 J.-J.
