HAMILTON WINS

ROTORUA HIGH SCHOOL LOSE BY FOUR W.ICKETS MODERATE SCORING The annual cricket match hetween the Rotorua and Hamilton High Schools was concluded yesterday afternoon, the visiting team having a win with four wickets in hand. In the morning play was resumed at 10 a.m., Harding (12) and Ellis (13) continuing the Hamilton boys' first innings. After adding four to his overnight score Ellis was run out by a smart return by Dawson, who also later bowled Harding for 17 runs. As occurred dn the previous match at Hamilton, the visitors' tailenders played the bowling confldently, Nolan, Roper and Barry playing bright cricket. Hamilton closed the innings 24 runs behind the home side first etfort. For Rotorua, Dawson bowled well to take five wickets for 42 runs and also was the best fieldsman of the team. In the second innings Ewsrt (39) and Budd (22), were the only Rotorua batsmen to score double figures, bright fielding by the visitors and accurate bowling by Harding and Barry making scoring difficult. Rotorua were all out for 100 runs, leaving Hamilton with 125 runs required for a win. > Finding gaps in the field the visiting batsmen scored runs quickly and the score was helped along, hy indifferent fielding hy the home players. Harding (26) and Ellis (21) again made a good stand for their team, the former being bowled by a beautiful ball from Simpson. Ellis went to a difficult one-handed oa.tch by Dawson. Of the remaining batsmen Nolan scored a quick 27 runs before falling a vietim to a low ball from Simpson and shortly after 5 p.m. Clarke and Gobby secured the required number of runs for the loss of seven wickets Details: —
