Rec. 7.30 p.m. London, Dec. 1> The Royal and Ancient Golf Club has announced that tbe following deifinitions will become operative on January 1: — A professional is a player who has played for a money prize or received payment for playing, or teaching the game either by personal demonstration, lecturing or allowing himself to be filmed. The following are ineligible to participate in amateur competition: Those who for remuneration allow their names or- likenesses to be used for advertising purposes; who permit tbeir names to be used as authors of books or articleS in which they are not authors; report golf in which they are -participatingi if journalism is not their recognised vocation; accept presents, or be given facilities to buy golf merehandise at prices below the usual charges for the purpose of advertisement; also employees of golfing firms who play in tournaments and competitions with the object of furthering their employers' interests.
